The Journeys of Winnie the Pooh and Friends!

Image
“The things that make me different are the things that make me, me.” -Piglet If I have learned anything in life, it is that friendship gets you through anything. Friendship is the trust between two or more people. Along with this trust, there are other characteristics such as being loyal, honest, reliable, and just being there when you're in a time of need. Winnie the Pooh teaches many kids about love, patience, acceptance, forgiveness, trust, and more.  Each character involved in this show represents a type of mental health and I believe this is to follow the line of self-acceptance and being true to who you are. These include:  Christopher Robin: Schizophrenia (it is believed that the other characters are made depending on his mood)  Winnie The Pooh: Eating Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Piglet: Generalized Anxiety Disorder  Owl: Dyslexia and Short Term Memory Loss Tigger: ADHD Kanga: Social Anxiety Disorder Roo: Autism Rabbit: OCD (ob...

An Adventure Out From The Cupboard Under The Stairs

Image
Being a famous orphan is difficult, but not for a boy named Harry Potter. Harry Potter is a young boy who is bound to attention by other witches and wizards because of a tragedy that occurred when he was an infant. Because of the large scar in the shape of a lightning bolt on his forehead, many people think of "the boy who lived" and even call him the chosen one or the cursed child. He has spent as long as he can remember living with the only family he's got left, even though he would prefer to be on his own. His aunt, uncle, and cousin look down on him because how his parents are witches and wizards, so they give him old clothes, and just enough food to keep him alive, they lock him in a small cupboard under the stairs, and have him complete about all of the work around the house.  Until one day: Everything changed. Harry got invited to the very school his parents had attended for his first year of school at Hogwarts, a very beautiful castle-looking buil...

Percy Jackson

Have you ever scrolled through social media and stopped at one of those Buzzfeed quizzes that tell you what you relate to by having you choose your favorite color or food?  What about one that tells you what Greek god you would be most like? Well, the idea of Greek gods is the topic of this blog and the book series Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. It is believed that there were twelve gods and goddesses that ruled Mount Olympus in ancient Greece. These twelve gods and goddesses consisted of:  Zeus: god of the sky and king of Olympus  Poseidon: god of the sea  Ares: god of war  Aphrodite: goddess of love and beauty  Hera: goddess of women, marriage, and queen of gods  Demeter: goddess of harvest and agriculture  Athena: goddess of war and wisdom  Apollo: god of the sun, music, poetry, art, and more  Artemis: goddess of the hunt and the wild Hephaestus: god of fire, metalworking, and sculpting Hermes: The messenger god Dionysus: g...

Panem is home to many people split into districts or different locations over an area of land. There are twelve remaining districts as the thirteenth was bombed by the Capitol because of rebellion amongst the people. Each of the thirteen districts is tasked with certain jobs to deliver to the Capitol to receive supplies in return, similar to the kids in The Maze Runner and society today with different jobs and majors. Besides the Capitol where all the upper class stay, the districts and their tasks are listed below: District 1: Luxury items District 2: Masonry and Defense District 3: General Electronics District 4: Fishing District 5: Power and Electricity District 6: Transportation District 7: Lumber District 8: Textiles District 9: Grain District 10: Livestock District 11: Agriculture District 12: Coal Mining District 13: Nuclear Weapons Is everyone scared of being pointed out over a specific something? Maybe or maybe not, but the children of Panem sure are afraid...

A Journey Through the Maze

Image
What does it feel like to be trapped? To be trapped is the prevention of escaping a certain place, just as Thomas and his friends are in The Maze Runner, by James Dashner. Sometimes, the feeling of being cut off and isolated isn't always as noticeable as an incredibly large border around a bunch of kids. For example, I often end up in situations where I am unsure of what to do and how to act, creating a lot of stress and pressure. I have also found out that groups of 3 people are difficult as someone, usually me, tends to be forgotten and left out of everything.  Clearly, this is not visually the same as what these kids have had to endure, but it may still take place under the state of being trapped. Think of school, something in which everyone can relate to. School is a great place for students to go and learn and collaborate with one another, but waking up and going to the same places every day can become quite boring. Sometimes people feel trapped through the...

The Impact of the Osage Murders

The 1900s, a time of wealth and new opportunities for the middle-class environment, who idolized their standard of living. Women were granted with the right to vote giving them a more powerful perspective. This decade also included the prohibition of alcohol and the increasing amount of jazz enthusiasts. Through the 1920s, new immigration laws limited the amount of immigrants traveling around and forced migration for most of the tribes. As new technology improves, oil becomes known to the world, and right over the locations the majority of natives have relocated to.        The title  Killers of the Flower Moon is a symbol to the Osage tribe stating how their resources (the oil being discovered) have been stolen as they are killed off one by one. Imagine being terminated for living over something everyone suddenly craved. The amount of greed and selfishness this takes and the fact that these types of people are flowing around the world l...
