The Journeys of Winnie the Pooh and Friends!

“The things that make me different are the things that make me, me.” -Piglet

If I have learned anything in life, it is that friendship gets you through anything. Friendship is the trust between two or more people. Along with this trust, there are other characteristics such as being loyal, honest, reliable, and just being there when you're in a time of need. Winnie the Pooh teaches many kids about love, patience, acceptance, forgiveness, trust, and more.  Each character involved in this show represents a type of mental health and I believe this is to follow the line of self-acceptance and being true to who you are. These include:

Christopher Robin: Schizophrenia (it is believed that the other characters are made depending on his mood)

Winnie The Pooh: Eating Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Piglet: Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Owl: Dyslexia and Short Term Memory Loss

Tigger: ADHD

Kanga: Social Anxiety Disorder

Roo: Autism

Rabbit: OCD (obsessive compulsion disorder)

Eeyore: Depression

However, author AA Milne died in 1956 and the term "learning disability" wasn't introduced until 1963, so no one knows if Milne meant to base these characters off of different mental disorders. It is still important to show how lots of children or people, in general, could have more difficulties in their daily lives compared to others, something important to be taken into consideration.

Believe it or not, Winnie the Pooh was actually based on a real-life bear! Milne actually got a bear for his son Christopher Robin for his first birthday and it was named "Edward" but was changed to "Winnie" after he and his son went to the London Zoo. "Winnie" was the name of the bear they saw at the zoo and the stuffed bear was purchased in a department store in London! The "Pooh" actually comes from the swan they saw in England on another vacation!

Piglet: “How do you spell love”

♡ ♡ ♡

Pooh: “You don’t spell it. You feel it.”

Some fun facts are that Pooh didn't originally have a red shirt until he was bought by Disney and his home is actually a real place. There is also a National Winnie the Pooh Day celebrated in England on January 18th!

Pooh and his friends constantly use their friendship to overcome their obstacles. They also use their bright imaginations to create adventure every day. I really enjoyed how adventurous everyone was when I was a child. Every story teaches an important lesson to me and they always sparked my imagination to be just as pure. To this day, I still really love Winnie the Pooh and Friends and my favorite Disney character is actually Eeyore!!

Here are some cute quotes I found:

"Any day spent with you is my favorite day."

"I wonder how many wishes a star can give."

"The most important thing is, even when we're apart ... I'll always be with you ..."

“A hug is always the right size.”

"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in our heart."

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”

“A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.”

"You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
